Working togethee to protect access, dignity, and democracy in New Hampshire

Educator · VeteranAdvocate · Organizer

Thank you
Scenic and Historic Ward 3
for choosing me to serve as your Selectman!

I’m grateful to the residents of Scenic and Historic Ward 3 for the trust they placed in me to serve as Selectman. Local government works best when it is transparent, accessible, and grounded in respect for the people it serves, and that’s the standard I bring to this role.As a disabled Marine Corps veteran, former educator, and community organizer, I’ve seen firsthand how small barriers can have outsized impacts on people’s ability to participate fully in civic life. From complex paperwork to changing election procedures, even well-intended systems can unintentionally leave people out.As Selectman, I help oversee the administration of local elections, including polling place operations, voter checklists, and Election Day procedures. This work isn’t abstract; it directly affects whether residents can cast a ballot confidently, independently, and with dignity. My goal is simple: to ensure every voter in Scenic and Historic Ward 3 knows their ballot counts and their voice matters. That means approaching this role with care, attention to detail, and a service mindset especially now as election laws evolve and administrative responsibilities become more complex. I’m committed to clear processes, accessible information, and treating every voter with respect.
Serving as Selectman is about stewardship, and I take that responsibility seriously and will continue working to make sure our local democracy remains fair, secure, and accessible to all.

A Bit About Adam

Adam Thompson is a community organizer, educator, and disabled veteran working to expand access, dignity, and democratic participation in New Hampshire.Based in Nashua, he serves as Vice Chair for Veteran Outreach and Strategic Planning with the Neurodiversity and Disability Alliance (NDA) Caucus.A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Adam served around the globe on active duty, and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the spring of 2003. That experience taught him important leadership lessons and continues to shape his lifelong commitment to fighting for equity, dignity, and systemic change, especially for communities too often left out or left behind.Adam is also a former public school teacher and held five teaching licenses in mathematics, both earth and life sciences, and history, all for grades 6–12. In his decade in front of the classroom, he has taught students facing serious systemic barriers, including poverty, trauma, and discrimination. Adam also experienced firsthand the importance and necessity of quality education for English Language Learners while working as an ESL teacher. In all his work, from supporting and running campaigns, to organizing within party structures, to showing up for grassroots movements, Adam centers the lived experience of immigrants, disabled people, veterans, the marginalized and disenfranchised, and working-class communities. His approach is collaborative, people-powered, and rooted in the belief that progress happens when everyone has a fair shot and when we work together.Adam marks his greatest accomplishment as marrying the love of his life, Shirley, a woman much more beautiful and accomplished than he.

Neurodiversity and Disability Alliance (NDA) Caucus

The NDA is a new NHDP Caucus being formed to showcase the strengths, advocate for the issues, and meet the needs of the overlapping Neurodiverse and Disabled Communities. Please help with our initial Caucus formation membership drive. For Caucus formation purposes, we need New Hampshire voters who are registered Democrats and members of the Neurodiverse and/or Disabled communities. We take the broadest, most welcoming view of membership in our overlapping communities. It is not necessary to share your Neurodiverse and/or Disabled status with us for membership, and in no event will we keep records of such information. Many Neurodiverse individuals are self-diagnosed, and there is a substantial body of research supporting the validity of self-diagnosis; all are welcome. We know our members belong because they tell us they do, and we believe them. Your information is SAFE with us, and will ONLY be used for the direct purposes of our Caucus. You have our word. For Caucus formation, we need to gather the names, city/town, phone number (optional) and email address of anyone interested in joining. Our understanding is that during formation we must focus on members of our communities.
However, we are eager to welcome caretakers, friends, and allies! So, please do reach out to join our mailing list, but please let us know that you are a caretaker/friend/ally/etc. so that we know not to count you for purposes of meeting the Caucus formation threshold.
